- Fruit (band)
Fruit are an
indie rock band fromAdelaide , Australia often compared to theIndigo Girls . The group was formed in 1995. In 2003 they won the "Best Live Album" trophy at theAustralian Live Music Awards .Their latest (June 2005) album is Burn.Originally formed in 1995 by a chance meeting following a request for two groups of three to perform together at an Adelaide show:
Group 1:
Jenna Bonavita , Mel Watson, Catherine OatesGroup 2: Miranda Bradley, Sam Lohs, Susie KeynesThe six members decided to rehearse together to do an "encore" performance at the end of the show... way too much fun ensued and 15years later they are still performing (together and separately) in numerous locations across the globe!:)
All the members had known each other from various previous incarnations:
"Emerald Sun": Mel Watson, Jenna Bonavita, Daniel Schultze, Yanya Boston
"Breathe": Sam Lohs, Adam Budgen (future sound engineer)
"Fresh Air": Catherine Oates, Jenna Bonavita, Padma Newsome, Dylan Woolcock, Quincy La
"Kai's Dilemma": Miranda Bradley, Susie Keynes
Fruit's first studio release was the award winning 1996 self-titled release "Fruit", followed by the much acclaimed "Skin"; then they delivered Shift Live in 1999, Here For Days in 2001 and 2002's award-winning Fruit Live At The Basement. Here For Days, which was recorded with UK producer Paul Gomersall (who has worked with
George Michael ,Phil Collins ,Echo & the Bunnymen , evenGuns N' Roses ), climbed to the #3 spot in the Australian Independent Charts.Awards & Achievements
