Jesse James Dupree is an American rock guitarist and singer.Dupree is the lead singer and guitarist of Jackyl, in addition to playing chainsaw on the song "The Lumberjack". He also started a solo project with guitarist John Hayes and bassist Roman Glick (formerly of Brother Cane).[1] His 2000 solo release Foot Fetish, issued on V2 Records, featured the single "Mainline", which hit #34 on the U.S. Billboard Mainstream Rock Tracks chart.[2] Dupree also has a customized electric guitar with a chainsaw attached. He endorses an extremely large customized chainsaw powered by Dodge Hemi used for festivals. Dupree first got the idea to incorporate the chainsaw into his act when he was having a band practice in his Mobile, Alabama summer home. His neighbor and long time friend Ben Dunn was cutting down a tree outside the household and Dupree could hear the chainsaw change pitches as Dunn adjusted the choke, and decided to incorporate it into his act. In September 2001 Dupree performed a cover of AC/DC's "Highway To Hell" for the ECW Music CD Anarchy Rocks.
On The New Tom Green Show, Dupree used a chainsaw to write Green's name in Green's custom-made desk. He then cut the portion out of the desk and gave it to an audience member. He asked Green and Glenn Humplik to perform a jam with him with disastrous results. Green was clearly angry because Dupree did not have permission to destroy the desk. The rest of the interview consisted of Green discussing with his producer how the damage would be paid for and mocking Dupree's chainsaw act.[3]
Dupree released a new album on July 15, 2008 called Jesse James Dupree & Dixie Inc - Rev It Up and Go-Go. Two videos were released in promotion of the new CD: "Money Lovin & Speed" and "Bite".
He currently appears on Full Throttle Saloon which airs on Tru TV on Wednesdays at 10.
