L. Whitney Clayton

Lyndon Whitney Clayton III (born February 24, 1950) has been a general authority of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) since 2001 and has been a member of the Presidency of the Seventy of the church since April 2008.

Clayton was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, United States and attended the University of Utah. He served as a full-time missionary of the LDS Church in Peru. Clayton was called to the First Quorum of the Seventy in 2001, and to the Presidency of the Seventy on April 5, 2008.

Clayton married Kathy Ann Kipp in the Salt Lake Temple on the 3rd of August in 1973. They are the parents of seven children.

Prior to becoming a general authority, Clayton had been a bishop, a branch president, a regional representative of the Twelve, and an Area Seventy in the LDS Church. At the time of his call as a Area Authority Clayton was living in Irvine, California. ["LDS Church News", August 5th, 1995]

Prior to his call as a General Authority Clayton was a partner in the Newport Beach, California based law firm of Call, Clayton and Jensen. ["LDS Church News", April 14th, 2001]

Currently as part of his assignment as a member of the presidency of the Seventy Clayton serves as president of the North America West and North America Northwest areas of the Church. ["LDs Church News" June 7th, 2008]
