Pearson Test of English is a new high stakes test of academic English developed by

[ [http://www.gmac.com/gmac/thegmat/ GMAT] ]Pearson Language Tests is a division ofPearson PLC and is currently undertaking field tests of the new Pearson Test of English (PTE), which is due to be launched in 2009. The PTE is a new international computer-based English language test that uses twenty often innovative and integrated item types. PTE meets the needs of universities, higher education institutions and professional and government organisations requiring a real life measure of candidates’ language ability.Focusing on the needs of both educational institutions and test-takers, PTE uses a variety of new technologies to enhance the testing experience. Institutions obtain comprehensive and robust information about the actual language skills of applicants to make informed decisions in a timely manner.
