Sir Lamiel, or Sir Lamiel of Cardiff is a
Knight of the Round Table who appears in SirThomas Malory 's "Le Morte d'Arthur ". The book "Le Morte d'Arthur" provides the only reference to Sir Lamiel, and Malory describes "Sir Lamiel of Cardiff that was a great lover". ["Le Morte d'Arthur", Book XIX: Chapter XI]
ir Lamiel in British railway history
An N15 'King Arthur' class steam locomotive number 30777 "Sir Lamiel" is named after this character, and has been preserved. It is the only survivor of a class of 74 locomotives, all bearing names of various characters found in Malory's book.
