Key Points for USAF Enlisted Commissioning Programs:

(ASCP) Airman Scholarship & Commissioning Program

* Must complete degree within either 2 or 4 years
* $15,000 scholarship
* Students separate from USAF & join an ROTC detachment at the college and receive the nontaxable $200~$400 monthly living and * $750 annual textbook allowances
* ASCP has the advantage in that you can "top-off" the tuition to attend a more expensive school
* Degrees are either technical or non-technical, but technical ones have priority
* 06 ASCP Board Selection Rate: 53%
* Yearly deadline: 15 Oct

(POC-ERP) Professional Officer Course-Early Release Program

* Designed for students with 2 years left toward their bachelor's degree
* Max $15,000 tuition/yr. (cannot "top-off" to attend a more expensive school)
* Students separate from USAF & join an ROTC detachment at the college and receive the nontaxable $200~$400 monthly living * and $750 annual textbook allowances
* Degrees are either technical or non-technical, but technical ones have priority
* 06 POC-ERP Board Selection Rate: 25%
* Yearly deadline: 15 Oct

(SOAR) Scholarships For Outstanding Airman To ROTC

* Students separate from USAF & join an ROTC detachment at the college and receive the nontaxable $200~$400 monthly living and $750 annual textbook allowances
* Board selects top 10% of applicants to receive a Type 1 (uncapped tuition) scholarship. Otherwise, tuition is non-"top-off" at $15,000/yr.
* Program is open to ANY MAJOR
* Applicants must be nominated by Wing Commander (or equiv.)
* Annually, 54 SOAR allocations are divided among the MAJCOMs. AFSPC has 3/yr.
* Yearly deadline: 15 Sept

(AECP) Airman Education & Commissioning Program

* Must complete degree within 2-3 years, students attend school year-round (to include summer semesters)
* AECP is NOT an avenue for Undergraduate Flying Training (cannot be a pilot)
* Students REMAIN on ACTIVE DUTY and are "administratively" assigned to an AFROTC det. (still accrue TIS) Duty is to attend college full-time.
* Students still receive FULL PAY and BENEFITS (E-4s or below receive E-5 pay) plus a $600 textbook allowance annually
* Max $15,000 tuition/yr. (cannot "top-off" to attend a more expensive school)
* Upon completion of degree, students attend Officer Training School (OTS) (Nurses commission through NCLEX and attend COT)
* Degrees must be Technical, Nursing (NLN or CCNE accredited), or Foreign Area Studies (must include language)
* Must have completed 30 semester hours of graded college coursework (does not include CLEP or CCAF credits) with specific prerequisites
* 08 AECP Board Selection Rate: 81%
* 07 AECP Board Selection Rate: 45% (Reference p.10: http://www.afoats.af.mil/AFROTC/documents/AECPNewsletter.pdf)
* 06 AECP Board Selection Rate: 79%
* Yearly deadline: 15 Feb

(NECP) Nurse Enlisted Commissioning Program

* Similar to pursuing a nursing degree through AECP, with a few exceptions:
* Must complete degree within 24 calendar mo.
* Applicants must be active duty with minimum grade of E-4 (non-waiverable)
* Must commission by age of 42 (instead of 35)
* Must have completed 59 semester hours of graded college coursework (does not include CLEP or CCAF credits) with specific prerequisites
* 2008 deadline: intent to apply notification by 22 Feb; transcripts 31 Mar; completed package 2 May

(LEAD) Leaders Encouraging Airman Development

* 85 Slots available for active duty airmen who qualify for direct entry into the Air Force Academy (AFA)
* Students must be younger than 23 on 1 Jul of the entry year
* 50 additional slots reserved at the AFA Prep-school for Airmen; these students must be younger than 22 on 1 Jul of their entry year
* Students must be single w/o dependents
