The Irish Catholic diocese of Roscrea (Irish "Ros Cré") existed in some form as an ecclesiastical territory, from the 7th to the 12th century. It was united into the diocese of Killaloe. Martin, Art Cosgrove, "New History of Ireland" (2005), p. 305] .
Its see was Roscrea monastery, from which grew the modern town of Roscrea, Tipperary. It was a sixth-century foundation of St Cronan.
