Original run July 11, 2004 – October 13, 2008 External links Website Dr. 90210 is an American reality television series focusing on plastic surgery in the wealthy suburb of Beverly Hills in Los Angeles, Southern California. The series began its run in 2004. Dr. 90210 gets its name from the zip code of the core of Beverly Hills, familiar to most viewers because of the former popular television series Beverly Hills, 90210.
The show is produced by E!, but is broadcast on several other basic cable network channels, such as the Style Network. Each episode is approximately one hour long. The show stands out from other programs of this sort in that it also examines the lives of the doctors featured in its lineup.
Overview
Dr. 90210 features interviews with the patients, semi-graphic footage of the surgeries, and before and after footage of the patients. For example, for patients wanting breast augmentation, the show displays the doctor examining the patient's breasts before and after surgery. For American broadcasts, only content such as the patient's areolas are blocked.
Dr. 90210 was inspired by the popular TV program Nip/Tuck.[1] The show began by focusing on the practice of Dr. Robert Rey, a renowned Brazilian plastic surgeon in Beverly Hills, and his personal life, with wife Hayley Rey and his two children.[2] Other surgeons featured in the first season included Dr. Richard Ellenbogen and Dr. Kotler. The show's lineup has expanded to include other practices such as that of Dr. Gary Alter, Dr. Jason Diamond, Dr. Kevin Sands, Dr. Linda Li, Dr. David Matlock, Dr. William Aiello, Dr. Dean Manus, Dr. Gary Motykie, Dr. Vipul Dev, Drs. Susan and Brian Evans, Dr. Bal Rajagopalan, and Big Brother 2 winner and leading authority on laser tattoo removal, Dr. Will Kirby.
The show package was designed and created by E! On Air Design Art Director, Phil Han with Executive Producer Dione Li and SVP, Creative Director, Ann Epstein-Cohen. Show Package Live Action, Director of Photography, Joel Lipton.
