Remington's old town area is still an authentic old town area that remains mostly untouched by modern development. Many stores (a hardware store and a pharmacy in particular) are almost exactly as they were decades ago. Remington was shaped by transportation. It was a stop during the mid 1800s on the Rappahannock canal. Later it was a stop on the Orange and Alexandria rail road (called Rappahannock Station).
