Republic of China–Paraguay relations

Republic of China–Paraguay relations

Paraguayan-Taiwanese relations are foreign relations between Paraguay and the Republic of China (Taiwan). Both countries established diplomatic relations on July 8, 1957. Paraguay is one of the few countries in the world (and the only one in South America) to recognize the Republic of China on Taiwan instead of the People's Republic of China. Paraguay has an embassy in Taipei. Taiwan has an embassy in Asuncion and a Consulates-General in Ciudad del Este. There are around 20,000 people of Chinese descent living in Paraguay, whose ancestors came during the first half of the 20th century.
