The Hendrie Stakes is a Canadian Thoroughbred horse race run annually at Woodbine Racetrack in Toronto, Ontario. Held in mid May, the Grade III sprint race is open to fillies and mares, aged four and older and is contested over a distance of six and a half furlongs on Polytrack synthetic dirt. It currently offers a purse of $150,000 with an additional $50,000 for Ontario-bred horses provided by the Canadian Thoroughbred Horse Society (C.T.H.S.) through its Thoroughbred Improvement Program (TIP). Inaugurated in 1975 and run at the Fort Erie Racetrack for the first two years, it previously was known as the George C. Hendrie Handicap in honor of George Campbell Hendrie, a part of one of Canada's most prominent racing families who, as did his father and grandfather before him, served as president of the Ontario Jockey Club.
