The 1911 Atlantic hurricane season ran through the summer and the first half of fall in 1911. The season was an inactive one, with only 6 tropical cyclones forming during the season. Three of them were hurricanes.

Tropical Storm One

Hurricane Two

The second storm became a hurricane that made landfall in the extreme western portion of the Florida Panhandle, near the later Big Lagoon State Park. Minor damage was done to the Pensacola area.

Hurricane Three

The third storm, possibly the strongest of the season, became a moderate Category 2. It weakened to a Category 1 prior to landfall near Hilton Head, South Carolina. Despite the weakening, the hurricane brought a 10 foot storm surge to the area and killed 17 people. Damages came to over a million dollars.

Hurricane Four

Another Category 2 hurricane struck Nicaragua, killing 10 people and causing $2 million in damage.

Tropical Storm Five

Tropical Storm Six

The final storm of the season was a tropical storm that moved through the Greater Antilles and dissipated in the Gulf of Mexico.
