Vuk Kosača

Vuk Kosača

Vuk is the founding father of a medieval Serb dynasty known as the Kosača. He lived in the 14th century as a long-term rival of the House of Rastislalić in northeast Serbia. His lands were somewhere in Upper Drina, around Foča.

During a hunt, he killed one of their members, supposedly in an accident. Out of fear, he fled to Hungary. Returning to the Serbian Empire, he became a commander in Tsar Dušan's army during the conquests of Byzantine lands in the southern Balkans.

He had two sons, Vlatko and Hran Vuković.
