iriver Plus 3 is a media player for the Microsoft Windows platform. Developed by iriver, the iriver Plus 3 is bundled with iriver's portable media players including the iriver clix and iriver E100 devices. The application is designed to sort, alter and transfer music, video, image and text files on to iriver devices.

Features

iriver Plus 3 will ask a user to automatically search for music when a user launches iriver Plus 3 for the first time on their computer. iriver Plus 3 will also check if you have a iriver device capable of video playback, if it finds a device capable, it will add a new item to the navigational menu to handle video files.

Music playback

iriver Plus 3 lists all music files in an easy to navigate list using scroll bars. Double clicking on a media file plays the file in the iriver Plus 3 media player docked at the top of the application. Music playback in the docked player can do basic functions such as shuffle through any music in the music library, loop a single song or loop all songs in the library, auto-detecting equalisation for song genres including pop, rock, R&B, Classical and a customisable equaliser.

The music player can be shifted into a special "Mini" mode, in which the player becomes a compact music player split into three parts including a controls box, equalizer box and a playlist box. The visual style of the player is comparable to the default theme of Winamp.

Music in the library can be manually edited individually or batch edited to ID3 tag standards. Album art can be dragged and dropped into the iriver Plus 3 to assign it to a music file. Music can also be automatically tagged and individual files may be grouped into albums by using the internet music database from All Media Guide called AMG LASSO. Music can also be given a rating out of five stars, defined by the user.

Video playback

A feature which is not enabled unless a user connects a iriver product with video playback capabilities, the video playback features are a basic set of video play back controls and a full screen function. The player supports MPEG 4 AVI files, MP4, WMV and MPEG video files, however does not support all video codecs installed on the user's computer.

Picture viewing

iriver Plus 3 supports a basic of image formats including JPEG, GIF, PNG and BMP images. The image viewing capabilities of the iriver Plus 3 are extremely basic. A user has to manually scroll through each subsequent image in the library with no automated slideshow feature.

E-book viewing

iriver Plus 3 supports TXT text files. E-BooksFact|date=March 2008 can be viewed by pages, auto-scrolling and manually scrolling the text. Auto-scrolling text can be set to scroll at different speeds. Manual scrolling requires a scroll bar to function.
