Sig Arno (born Siegfried Aron, 27 December fy|1895–17 August fy|1975 was a German film actor who appeared in such films as "Pardon My Sarong", and "The Mummy's Tomb". He may be best remembered from "The Palm Beach Story" (fy|1942) as "Toto", the nonsense-talking mustachio'd little man who follows around Mary Astor's "Princess Centimillia".

Biography

Sig Arno was born in Hamburg, Germany. Before beginning to make films in fy|1920, he was well known in Germany as a stage comedian.Erickson, Hal [http://www.allmovie.com/cg/avg.dll?p=avg&sql=2:2344~T1 Biography (Allmovie)] ] He acted in ninety films in Germany – including G.W. Pabst's Pandora's Box with Louise Brooks – playing primarily comic roles, before leaving the country in fy|1933, due to the rise of Hitler. He worked in Europe until fy|1939, when he moved to Hollywood.

In the next twenty years he appeared in over fifty films, [imdb name|0036324] often playing waiters, maitre d's and "funny Europeans." Arno also appeared three times on Broadway [ibdb name|101040] , notably in the musical "Song of Norway" and the play "Time Remembered" by Jean Anouilh, [ibdb title|2656|Time Remembered] for which he was nominated for a Tony Award as "Best Featured Actor in a Play" in 1958.
