Moravia, New York . He served as a member of the Illinois state senate in 1850, and as Illinois lieutenant governor from 1857- 1860. He assumed the office of governor upon the death of governor William Bissell.Wood died in
Quincy, Illinois , aged 81, which he founded. His interment was at Woodland Cemetery, Quincy, Illinois.John Wood Community College in
