X1 is a series of two-car electric multiple units operated by Greater Stockholm Transport (SL) on the Stockholm commuter rail. The X1 was operated in sets of up to five units, making ten-car trains, each unit consisting of one motor car and one unpowered car. 104 units were built by ASEA in 1967-75 and are being replaced by the new X60.

History

The X1 was based on the SJ X6 taken into service in the 1960s, that had replaced locomotive-pulled trains. The X1 interior was based more on the Stockholm Metro with five a breadth seating and three doors per car. They are completely compatible with the X10 introduced in the 1970s. The X1 was started taken out of service in 2006 and will be out of service in 2008.
