Flag of Southern Sudan

Flag of Southern Sudan

The flag of Southern Sudan was adopted following the signing of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement that ended the second Sudanese civil war. [ [http://www.gossmission.org/goss/ The Government of Southern Sudan - HOME ] ] The flag was previously used as the flag of the Sudan People's Liberation Movement. The flag is similar to the Flag of Kenya with the addition of a blue triangle and gold star at the hoist. The colours are said to represent the Southern Sudanese people (black), the blood shed for freedom (red), the land (green); the star represents the Star of Bethlehem.
