Wilfred Gore-Browne

Wilfred Gore-Browne was the Bishop of Kimberley and Kuruman from 1912 to 1928 [The Times, Friday, Aug 17, 1928; pg. 15; Issue 44974; col D "Death of the Bishop of Kimberley and Kuruman"] . He was born on 6 May 1859 and educated at Harrow School and Trinity College, Cambridge [“Who was Who” 1897-1990 London, A & C Black, 1991 ISBN 071363457X] . Ordained priest in 1882 his first post was as Curate at Pallion. Further experience was gained in South Shields and Darlington before a posting to South Africa. As Rector, then Dean of Pretoria he was instrumental in setting up fledging churches [ [http://www.crossnet.co.za/cmc/cmc_mootnet_july_2004.htm History of church he founded] ] . Promotion to the Episcopate came in 1912 and he died in post on 15 March 1928.
