Michael Cartellone (2009)
Michael Cartellone (from Solon, Ohio) born in 1962 is the current drummer of Lynyrd Skynyrd (1999–present),[1] and the former drummer of Damn Yankees (1989–1996, 1998)[2] and Accept (1996).[3] He is also an accomplished painter, having done so for many years. Before joining Damn Yankees, Tommy Shaw, both of Styx and Damn Yankees, recalled Michael painting children's furniture such as cribs etc. To this day, when not busy in the music business, he still makes room for painting. His "Road Series" of paintings are quite popular. His artwork can be found at [1] Walnut Street Gallery and at [2] Rock Star Gallery. Mr. Cartellone also appeared on the 2009 release by former Faith No More singer, Chuck Mosley, titled 'Will Rap Over Hard Rock For Food.' Mr.Cartellone also found huge inspiration in Charles Chaplin, whose quick rhythmic nuances and subterfuge, as evidenced in the famed dance of the rolls, led to a Chaplinesque adaptation called Wooten Paradiddles (WP) now widely adapted among many major heavy metal drummers.
Michael is also planning to debut his current painting "Ronnie Van Zant" at a special Wentworth/Casino event in Pittsburgh PA in 2010. Michael is currently on tour with Lynyrd Skynyrd promoting their newest album/cd release God and Guns.
