The Great Conservative Reaction

The Great Conservative Reaction

The Great Conservative Reaction was a period of American politics from 1787 to 1800. This conservative reaction came about in response to the liberal American Revolution and The Articles of Confederation. The first step conservatives took to reverse these liberal events was by creating The Constitution of the United States. After the ratification of the constitution, the conservative George Washington was elected President of the United States in 1789. Under the presidencies of George Washington and John Adams, the conservatives dominated the government of the United States. During this period, the conservatives supported Republican motherhood, a strong national government, better relations with England, and the First Bank of the United States. The Revolution of 1800 ended The Great Conservative Reaction.
