Berri (singer)

Berri (singer)

Berri (born Rebecca Sleight in York) is an English singer, best known for her 1995 hit single, "Sunshine after the Rain", originally a hit for Elkie Brooks in 1977.

"Sunshine after the Rain" was released twice, peaking at number 26 in the UK Singles Chart in December 1994, and at number 4 in August 1995. For the first release, the credits were for "New Atlantic/U4EA featuring Berri". Berri got a full credit on the second release, which was the 45th biggest selling UK single of 1995. The follow up single, "Shine Like a Star" peaked at number 20 in December 1995.

Afterwards, she worked with a number of bands, the most recent being Degrassi hailing from Tooting Bec. An album, "About Time" was released in 1995.

Berri's biggest hit, "Sunshine After The Rain" was featured on Smash Hits! television channel's Brian Dowling's Cheesy Pop 100 show in July 2008. The song reached number 85, one below Kylie Minogue's Locomotion.
