Prashant Bhargava is an award-winning
filmmaker and designer.He currently completing post on his first feature "Patang". During the jubliant atmosphere of
Ahmedabad 's treasured kite festival, three stories unfold capturing the joys and struggles of a city in flux.His film "Sangam" premiered at the 2004
Sundance Film Festival and since appeared in over thirty festivals, been broadcast on PBS, Sundance Channel and ARTE/ZDF, garnering several awards and distinctions.Prashant has designed and directed commercials, titles, and promos for such films as "Born into Brothels", John Frankenhiemer's "Path to War", Mira Nair's "Hysterical Blindness", Raoul Peck's "Lumumba", and Denzel Washington's "
Antwone Fisher ". Notable projects include branding Cinemax's Reel Life documentary series and many of HBO's original series - OZ, Def Poetry Jam, and The Wire. Other projects include promotions for Blue Cross Blue Shield, Missy Elliot, Talib Kweli, Accenture, PBS, NBC, History Channel, Bravo, and IBM.Prashant been recognized by the New York Foundation of the Arts, the Broadcast Designers Association, and Adobe Systems. Prashant is the recipient of the 2006 Copeland Fellowship at Amherst College.
Prashant studied theatrical directing at the Actors Studio Drama School and computer science at Cornell University. Prior to his career as a filmmaker, Prashant worked on a joint project of the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation and New York University instructing Chicago Public School teachers to use media and technology to tell their own stories and challenge public misconception. A native of
Chicago , Prashant's interest in the arts began as agraffiti artist.
