Tibesti-Jebel Uweinat montane xeric woodlands

The ecoregion covers 82,200 square kilometers (31,700 square miles) in the volcanic Tibesti Mountains of Chad and Libya, and volcanic peak of Jebel Uweinat on the border of Egypt, Libya, and Sudan. The climate is arid and subtropical. The Tibesti and Jebel Uweinat highlands foster higher, more regular rainfall and cooler temperatures than the surrounding Sahara, which support woodlands and shrublands of palms, acacias, myrtle, oleander, Tamarix, and several rare and endemic plants.
