The agency received its nickname, "Gosstandart", in 1970.After the dissolution of the USSR, "Gosstandart" was merged with "Gosstandart Rossii" and today its name is
Rostekhregulirovaniye . In Ukraine, Gosstandart becameDerzhstandart , an abbreviation for "Derzhavnyy standart".
