railcar that was operated byNorges Statsbaner between 1934 and 1985. Three units were manufactured by Strømmen andNorsk Elektrisk & Brown Boveri in 1934. Two units have been preserved by theNorwegian Railway Association onGamle Vossebanen . Prior to 1956 the railcars were numbered 18 505-507, after which they were renumbered 64.05-64.07.The three cars where each built with one carriage for use on
Hardangerbanen , the first of NSB's mainline railways to open electrified. Because of the low traffic on Hardangerbanen, and the lack of electrification at the time onBergensbanen , the BM64 where built explicit for the line. They where also sometimes used onFlåmsbana .
