Adam Gubman

Adam Gubman (born April 7, 1979) is an American video game and film composer, born in Anaheim, California. While his younger years were spent in California, much of Gubman's adolescence (1989-1994) was spent in Plymouth, Minnesota MN, where he and his family relocated due to his father's employment opportunities. Gubman moved back to California in 1994, where he finished his High School career at Woodbridge High School in Irvine, California. His parents still reside in Irvine.

During Gubman's childhood, he studied a lot of popular music, and participated in many musicals and stage plays. His passion for drama and theater has continued to grow throughout his life.

Gubman took a break from college after a short stint at California State University, Long Beach in 1997. Here, he was a member of Sigma Pi fraternity for one semester. He left due to failing grades from too much 'fun' at college. He attributes it to his immaturity at the time, and longing to grow and explore life before educational commitment. Gubman returned to CSULB in 2003, and finished his degree in Music Composition (B.M. Music - Comp) in 2006. This time, his grades were fantastic, because Gubman had learned to cherish and value his education through his own personal relationships with his piano students. He went on to graduate with honors, winning the Stephen Paulus Composition Scholarship, and various other talent scholarships, including the 2005 CSULB 'Composer of the Year' award. His educational commitment had paid off with a premiere of his song cycle 'Fungi from Yuggoth', based on the H. P. Lovecraft sonnet cycle of the same name.

In 1998-2003 Gubman began to teach piano privately, and also worked as a music producer for various small record labels. He also worked for a time with Composer/Producer C. J. Vanston as his Production Assistant. With Vanston at the Treehouse Studio, Gubman helped perform production tasks on various projects. It was here he got his first 'real' credit, on the Castle Rock film "Best in Show".

Gubman's work includes almost two dozen games released in 2007, and the critically renowned "Pirates of the Burning Sea", released in early 2008 by Sony Online Entertainment, developed by Flying Lab Software. He is currently working as Lead Composer on 'Twin Skies', a game by Meteor Games, creators of the popular NeoPets series of games and toys (www.TwinSkies.com). Gubman is also a Lead Composer for SomaTone Audio Interactive, one of the largest multimedia audio houses internationally.

In 2003, Gubman wrote a musical called "The Recital", based loosely on his work teaching piano. The musical had one workshop performance before Gubman returned to CSULB to finish his degree, but he is committed to returning to the stage as soon as his time will allow.

Gubman has also scored several films including "Harrison Montgomery", "Pool Party" and "Scab". His credited Major Motion Picture work includes "Best in Show" (Composer's Assistant), "Blonde Ambition" starring Jessica Simpson (source music), and "First Sunday", starring Ice Cube (source music).

Currently, Gubman lives in South Orange County, California, with his wife Allison Santos, and their daughter Jane Pey'j. He is active in the AudioGANG (www.AudioGANG.com), and manages to find time to run the OC GANG Hang, a game composer meet up open to anyone interested in audio for games.
