Akiko Kobayashi (singer)

Akiko Kobayashi (singer)

, also known by her alias Holi, is a Japanese singer, born in Tokyo in 1958. Holi collaborated with Brian Eno and U2 on their 1995 project, the Passengers. Her smash hit debut theme song, "Koi Ni Ochite” (Fall in Love)" from 1985's popular show "Kinyoubi no Tsumatachi e" made her famous in Japan. She first began singing at age 15 and writing, later, songs for other artists that became big hits at home and abroad making her famous. In 1995 Brian Eno had wanted a Japanese female vocalist for his Passengers record so he called a friend of a friend who was in a relationship with Holi and so she went to Dublin to record a few songs, one of which would end up on the record as "Ito Okashi" which means Beautiful Things; a series of random sentences to dreamy, ambient music with Japanese chimes.
