Anant Kanekar

Anant Kanekar

Anant Kanekar (1905-1980) was a Marathi writer.

He first made name for himself through his association with film industry by writing songs and script for films. A collection of his poems was published under the name :'Chaand-Raat'.

He was very light-hearted, friendly, talkative, social, and a permanent fixture as MC at cultural functions. He was a professor who was very popular among his students.

He travelled through Russia in the early years of Stalin's regime and wrote a book about it : "Dhukyaatun Laal Taaryaakade" (From the fog towards the Red Star).

Anant Kanekar was an alumnus of Chikitsak Samuha Shirolkar High School, Girgaon, Mumbai.
