Vulcan (automobile company)

Vulcan Manufacturing Company was a brass era American automobile manufacturer based in Plainesville, Ohio, founded in 1914. [Clymer, Floyd. "Treasury of Early American Automobiles, 1877-1925" (New York: Bonanza Books, 1950), p.135.]

Vulcan's first products were the Model 27 speedster and five-passenger tourer. They ran on a 115 in (2921 mm) wheelbase and had a 27 hp (20 kW) engine (3⅜×5-inch, 86×127 mm) and left-hand drive. [Clymer, p.135.] The speedster was US$750, the tourer US$850, compared to US$650 for the high-volume Oldsmobile Runabout [Clymer, p.32.] US$500 for Western's Gale Model A [Clymer, p.51.] and Ford Model N, US$485 for a Brush Runabout was [Clymer, p.104.] as low as $375 for the Black, [Clymer, p.61.] and an amazingly low US$250 for the Success.
