The Interior Minister of Pakistan heads the Ministry of Interior. He serves in the cabinet of the Prime Minister. The Minister is required to be a member of Parliament. During the martial regimes of Generals Ayub Khan and Yahya Khan, from 1962 till 1971, the Interior Minister was called Home Affairs Minister. The current de-facto Interior Minister if Rehman Malik, whose official designation is Adviser to the PM on Interior and Narcotics Affairs.
