The International Cruise Terminal is a new cruise terminal in Singapore which will be located at Marina South next to the Marina South Pier. Work will begin on it in June 2008 and it is scheduled to be completed by 2010.
The impetus for construction came from difficulties many cruise operators had with the current Singapore Cruise Centre which is in a narrow channel with many bridges. The geographical limitations of the site impose height and berth limits on the cruise operators. Wheras, the new location at Marina South has deep waters, a large turning basin, and no height restrictions, which will enable it to accommodate the largest cruise ships being built now.
The facility will be able to berth ships of up to 220,000 GRT and measuring up to 360m (1,181 feet) in length with a draft of up to 11.5m (37.73 feet).
The development can currently be reached by bus 402 from the Marina Bay MRT Station, however a new MRT station is planned to be built by 2015 at the terminal as an extension of the North South Line.
