- Sandhill View School
Sandhill View School is a secondary school located in
Sunderland ,Tyne and Wear ,England . Last year it received its specialised status in Performing Arts, under the leadership of Mr Richard Bain. Although the school is run by staff, students do have their points of view considered through the form of Student Voice. Student Voice currently consists of two representatives from each of the year groups.Sandhill View recently moved into a new modern building on the site of the former building, under the headship of Mrs Marshall, who left the school in 2004 to join Monkwearmouth School. The school has been recognised as the 12th most improved school in the country in 2006/7, at the same time as achieving Performing Arts College status. Through the new status, the school has gone on to perform popular shows such as, "Romeo and Juliet", "1984", "Beauty and the Beast", "Saturday Night Fever", with future shows such as "Bugsy Malone" and "Dracula", dates to be confirmed.
In addition, pupils from the school have gone on to achieve national recognition through their work, in art and sports in particular. The school takes pupils from its feeder schools such as: Thorney Close Primary, Grindon Broadway Junior School, Hastings Hill Primary School and Plains Farm Primary School. The current Year 11, who joined the school five years ago, was the largest new intake of Year 7, which the new school had received.
