The original mall had a large sign featuring a fountain-shaped collection of illuminated balls. The property was enclosed in the late 1980's and renamed Fallbrook Mall. By the late 1990s, the mall had many empty spaces. The ownership of the mall changed hands, and at one point there were large advertising banners in the mall itself shouting "BUY THIS MALL." In 2001 the mall closed down and the interior mall portion was demolished. It was turned into an open-air shopping center.Anchors & Majors
