The
space shuttle Olympus is on a routine mission, but with a far-from-routine payload: "Project Viper," an experimental hybrid of human genes and computer chips, designed to adapt to any environment, particularly that ofMars . But as the shuttle crew prepares to launch the prototype into space, something unexpected occurs. Soon the astronauts are dead, and the Secretary of Defense orders the remaining prototype destroyed. The monster is a large pile of gray goo (a reference to the
gray goo theory) that can move around and create different forms of itself. It is controlled by a computer chip that can be turned off by a remote control, rendering the creature harmless. It kills and eats by getting into people's bodies and eating them from the inside out.External links
