December 5 ,1983 ) is a Canadian swimmer, specializing in thebreaststroke event. She is the oldest of 5 sisters who are all competitive swimmers. She also has two brothers.She is the Canadian record holder in a number of events (short-course and long-course).
Her first Canadian record was set at the 2007
Pan American Games in the 100-metre breast-stroke. At these Games, she also broke the 19-year old Canadian record in the 200-metre breaststroke ofAllison Higson (which at the time was a World record for Higson) [ [http://www.canadawest.org/sports_team_story.aspx?id=11&storyid=615 Pierse breaks Canadian swimming record at Pan-Ams] July 22, 2007] . At the end of 2007, she was ranked 6th in the world in the 200-metre breaststroke.On April 2, 2008 she placed first at the Canadian Olympic Trials in 100m breaststroke thereby qualifying her for the Summer Olympic games in Beijing. At the 2008 Olympics, she finished in 6th at the 200m breaststroke. She was a member of the Canadian team that finished in seventh in the 4x100m medley relay.
