Ragtown, Nevada

Ragtown, Nevada

There are at least two ghost towns known as Ragtown in Nevada.

The older is the site of an abandoned trading post established in 1854 west of the city of Fallon in Churchill County, Nevada [ [http://dmla.clan.lib.nv.us/docs/shpo/markers/mark_19.htm Nevada State Historic Preservation - historical markers] ] .

Another Ragtown was beside the Colorado River near the mouth of Black Canyon. [ [http://www.bcmha.org/photos/children.html Vintage Photograph Collection - Children] , Hoover Dam Museum, Boulder City]

Its official name was Williamsville, after Claude Williams, who was in charge of the settlement.Dennis McBride, Andrew J. Dunar (2001) "Building Hoover Dam: An Oral History of the Great Depression", ISBN 0874174899 [http://books.google.com/books?id=SYeEmU2aW9EC&pg=PA40&dq=ragtown,+Utah&sig=eyYN9pfV1JA-5fVEWyCj8RDSdbo , p. 40] ]

It housed construction workers of Hoover Dam until Boulder City was built.
