Evelynn M. Hammonds (PhD, 1993, Harvard, Department of the History of Science) is the recently-appointed Dean of Harvard College.

The Harvard's announcement of her appointment talked about "targeted searches as a means of enhancing gender diversity on the faculty."
Her undergraduate work in physics (BS, 1976) at
Spelman College inAtlanta, Georgia , was followed by graduate work in physic at MIT in Cambridge, MA (SM, 1980, Department of Physics).References
