airport located on the island ofSint Eustatius in theNetherlands Antilles . Currently the only commercial aircraft that service the island are theDHC-6 Twin Otter andBritten-Norman Islander , although the runway can accommodate largerturboprop aircraft and some smaller jets. The island is not a traditional Caribbean tourist destination as it doesn't have the typical picturesque beaches and big resorts. The local government has however sought to increase tourism by attracting visitors to its world-class dive sites, hiking its dormant volcano The Quill and exploring its colonial history. Part of this plan is a proposed convert|1000|ft|adj=on extension of the runway to accommodate even larger aircraft and additional destinations.
