Ottawa ,Ontario . The school, operated by the publicly fundedOttawa Catholic School Board , teaches grades 9-12. Their school team is X-men and their colours are green and white. The St. Pius X school motto is "To establish all things in Christ." The school is located on Fisher Avenue at Dynes Road.St. Pius X High School is known for their spirit, athletic excellence, and variety of extracurricular activities. Every year students raise money for the Terry Fox Foundation by holding a run in his honour in mid-September. St. Pius students are also very athletic and succeed in many sports, including Soccer and Field Hockey. The wide variety of groups and clubs to join is also an important part of life at St. Pius. Students get involved in such groups as the Drama Guild, Photography, Art Club, ATC, Peer Helping, Student Council, and Band.
The facility currently includes 40 classrooms, 20 classrooms in two port-a-paks, five computer labs, two gymnasiums, a library, an in-school chapel, a multi-functional cafeteria and several playing fields. Enrolment currently stands at around 1,100 students.
St. Pius X High School was the scene of one of North America'sfirst school shootings. On October 27, 1975, student
Robert Poulin went on a shooting spree in the school. Poulin, an 18-year-old St. Pius student, opened fire on his classmates with ashotgun killing one and wounding five before turning the gun on himself and committingsuicide . Poulin hadraped and stabbed his 17-year-old friend Kim Rabot to death prior to the incident. A book entitled "Rape of a Normal Mind" was written about the incident.Notable alumni
