The SIU Arena is a 9,628 seat multi-purpose arena on the campus of Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, Illinois. It was built in 1964, and is the home of the SIU Salukis basketball team. It has hosted some of the biggest names in music during its 40+ years including Elvis, Led Zeppelin, Frank Zappa, Elton John, B.B. King and KISS to name a few. Widespread Panic released a live album containing their complete concert performance from 2000. In December, 2003 it was also the site for a memorial service for the late U.S. Sen. Paul Simon.
