Pronunciation =Berlin Mountain, convert|2818|ft|m, is a prominent peak in the
Taconic Mountains of westernNew England and adjacentNew York . The summit and west side of the mountain are located in New York; the east side lies withinMassachusetts . The mountain is a bald, notable for its grassy summit and expansive views of theHudson River Valley to the west. The convert|35|mi|km|abbr=onTaconic Crest Trail traverses the mountain. Much of the upper slopes and summit are within protected conservation land.It is the highest point in Rensselaer County, and the highest mountain in New York outside of the Adirondacks and Catskills.
Geography
The Taconic Ridge continues north from Berlin Mountain as
Mount Raimer and south as Misery Mountain. It is flanked to the east byMount Greylock . The west side of Berlin Mountain drains into theLittle Hoosic River , thence into theHoosic River , theHudson River , andLong Island Sound . The east side drains into Hemlock Brook, thence the Hoosic River.References
