Sir Hugh Alexis Louis Rossi FKC (born
21 June 1927 ) is a former British Conservative politician.Rossi was educated at Finchley Catholic Grammar School - since 1971
Finchley Catholic High School - andKing's College London and set up his own solicitor's practice in theWest End, London . He was elected a councillor onHornsey Borough Council 1956-65, serving as deputy mayor 1964-65, and on the successorLondon Borough of Haringey from 1964. He was also aMiddlesex County Council lor 1961-65.Rossi was MP for Hornsey, 1966-1983, and for Hornsey and Wood Green, 1983-1992 after boundary changes. A junior minister in the governments of
Edward Heath andMargaret Thatcher , he was on the 'One Nation' wing of the party. He retired in 1992 after which the Conservative Party lost the Hornsey and Wood Green seat when his Conservative successor Andrew Boff was defeated by Labour. He is presently a patron of the Association of Lawyers for the Defence of the Unborn.His daughter,
Marie-Louise Rossi , also has a political career, firstly as a Conservative, then a member of the breakawayPro-Euro Conservative Party , then the Liberal Democrats.
