These battles took place on 22 and 25 January 1794 during the French Revolutionary Wars. It was a victory for British East Indiamen over French privateers which attacked them. Only "Britannia" and "Nonsuch" were involved on the British side in the first battle.
Also, on 17 January 1794 "Résolu" and "Vengeur" had been defeated but not captured by the British East Indiaman "Pigot" (which wasn't involved in the fleet battles), but "Pigot" was captured by the remaining 4 French ships while refitting in Rat Island basin on 9 February.
