- IBM Almaden Research Center
IBM Almaden Research Center, located in the heart of Silicon Valley in California, is a one of the largest research sites within the IBM Research division of IBM. It was founded in 1952 as the "IBM San Jose Research Laboratory" in San Jose, California. The site was chosen because of its close proximity to Stanford University, University of California at Berkeley and other collaborative academic institutions. In 1986 the laboratory moved to Almaden (an area in south San Jose, California) and changed to its present name to reflect the move.
