He participated in both Olympic gold medals of the Brazil men's national volleyball team (the only other player in both was Giovane Gávio), against The Netherlands at the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona, Spain and against Italy at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece
Lima and Italy's Andrea Giani were the only volleyball players who made their fifth Olympic appearance at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece. Their parallel Olympic careers began at the 1988 Seoul Games.
He also won 5 Volleyball World Leagues (1993, 2001, 2003 and 2004), the 2002 FIVB Men's World Championship and the 2003 FIVB Men's World Cup.
