Sir Horatio Thomas Austin (1801 –
16 November 1865 ) was a British officer in theRoyal Navy , and anexplorer of the Canadianarctic . Following the 1849 failure ofJames Clark Ross 's attempt to locate the lostFranklin Expedition , Austin led an 1850 expedition that also attempted to find SirJohn Franklin and his crew.George F. McDougall was second master on board the "Resolute".
