Terrorism in the hands of Justice
- Terrorism in the hands of Justice
Terrorism in the hands of Justice is a controversial television series in Iraq.
The series shows actual Prisoners who are questioned and often admit to their role in the Iraqi insurgency on camera, and this recording is later broadcast nationwide on the American-funded new television station "Al-Iraqiya".
The television show is controversial, allegedly showing various breaches of the law by the Iraqi authorities. Those being questioned are not permitted to have a lawyer present, and the videos are broadcast without the permission of those arrested. There is a presumption of guilt and several of those arrested and broadcast have disappeared. At least one is known to have died in custody.
Critics of the show also maintain that it propagates ethnic tension, as the interrogators are almost always Shia, while the prisoners are overwhelmingly Sunni Arab.
The government in Iraq says they broadcast the series to show to the people of Iraq that arrests are being made and that the insurgents are being tracked down.
