Munawar Khan

Munawar Khan

Haji Munawar Khan comes from a prominent pashtun family. He was not keen on being an agriculturist, thus he migrated to Sukkur from NWFP in the 1950s. He started his career as a commodity trader and after a few years he built his first factory, Qadria flour mill. After this successful venture, Munawar Khan setup cement and sugar mills. After nationalization, he invested in cotton ginning and agriculture. Munawar Khan won two elections from Sukkur representing PPP. He got the portofolio of Excise and Taxation minister in his second term. After Z.A Bhutto's death, Munawar Khan distanced himself from politics and started focusing on his already burgeoning business. Munawar Khan has been an active player in FPCCI. He is a life time member and is one of the past presidents. Munawar Khan's sons, Khalid and Waqar Khan, manage the family business under his chairmanship. In the 1990s they ventured into textiles but both the factories were later sold.
