Born in
Charlotte, North Carolina in 1973, Vick grew up inColumbia, South Carolina . In 1989 he moved toHilton Head , South Carolina. In 1991 while in high school, Scott's first contact with professional wrestling first took place. Scott was approached by a talent scout withWorld Championship Wrestling (WCW). In 1992, Scott was an All-American in football and was named to the National Prep Magazine's Top 100 High School football players in the nation.After high school in 1993, Scott attended the
University of Cincinnati on a football scholarship. Scott later transferred to theUniversity of South Carolina where his football career was cut short by a serious knee injury.Career

Vick was trained at the
WCW Power Plant and made his WCW debut on "WCW Monday Nitro " in March 1997 as Lance Ringo in a losing effort againstDiamond Dallas Page . He later appeared in October 1997 as part of Raven's Flock under the name of Sick Boy. Vick's first match as Sick Boy was on "WCW Monday Nitro " againstChris Benoit and was the third match of his career. As a member of The Flock, Vick participated in the group's feuds with wrestlers likeDiamond Dallas Page and Goldberg throughout 1998. He left The Flock when Perry Saturn defeated Raven and won the freedom of the members of The Flock at Fall Brawl '98. After the Flock split-up, Vick and WCW could not come to terms on the development of a new character. Vick was released from WCW in 1999.World Wrestling Federation
In October 1999, Vick signed a booking contract with the then World Wrestling Federation (now, World Wrestling Entertainment). Originally, Vick was to be involved in a angle with Val Venis. Due to a change in the direction of the Val Venis character, the angle was dropped. Between 2000 and 2002, Vick made frequent appearances in dark matches and began training in WWE's developmental territory,
Ohio Valley Wrestling .
